Soooooooooo there has been a bit of a break between my posts, after the mammoth effort for April. However I have been up to my ears in assignments for Uni and at $700 a subject I'm thinking it gets my priority!!
Anyway as of three minutes ago. I hit the submit button on my final assignment for this semester and I'm so fucking happy right now :) I'll be even happier when I find out I managed to pass this semester.
Anyway I just wanted to share a line from the creative vignette I just submitted.
The knots in the pit of her stomach, attempt to stitch up the hole in her chest.
There's a lovely visual for you.
I'm off to the pub to catch up with some uni mates for a 5:30 celebration thank fuck Uni is over for this semester drink :)

Shoot the bloody Parrot
I'm on page 25 of this book and it's boring me to death. As I read the words on the page my mind drifts off to the hundred other things I've got to complete. I get to the end of the page stare at it blankly and think - what did I just read!?!
The e-notes site isn't a lot of help thus I'm 'reading' the book. I think the lecturers knew that the majority of students wouldn't read the text as it was so close to the end of semester and time is running out etc. so they deliberately set the questions at level 8.5 out of 10 on a scale of difficulty. One being getting your name right!
So as I type out this entry and procrastinate from reading this dull book. I'm forced to hit the publish post button and get back to reading. I'll give it ten more pages - if it's still shit I'm out.
That's all I've got.
**Update** just found a website that reviewed the book. I'm screwed now - this lady states that the book is beyond shit (My words not hers) and she's in struggle town (again my words) at page 95. I'm cutting my losses. I'll try and wing it and hope for the best.

Assignment overload
It's been head down arse up for me the past few days. I've got assignments coming out my ears and running out of time to write them. I got an e-mail from one of the tutors stating don't forget to read Flaubert's Parrot by Julian Barnes! There is NO chance I'll get that book read by next week. Thankfully I got myself a subscription to a site called e-notes and I'll utilise their brilliant 'summary' to get my head around what the book is about enough to answer the 'short questions' on it!
I'm not a fast reader - so it's a struggle for me to read a book every two weeks and actually 'have a life' so when I offer feedback on this subject anonymously I'll be stating that there's just too many texts to get through with 'other' subjects! Sure if you only did one subject a semester - well you'd have no bloody excuse not to get a book read every two weeks - but when you have two creative writing classes on top of the 'text' class it's a little too much!
Good news is I've completed my Writing from the edge essay with three days to spare :) (That's a record for me!) I've got about 500 words left to write on my Prose essay and then the killer Mrs Dalloway essay to write before two other creative writing pieces and I'm done for this semester! I have to say I'm looking forward to the break. I've struggled this semester to get 'into it' So a month off will hopefully allow me to a) not read any books that I don't *have* too i.e forced too and b) just give me some time to do nothing.
I plan of visiting my brother and his wife and their sons over the month of June - which will be great to just hangout and do nothing the Twelve hour drive out into western Queensland.

Talent reigns supreme in Gen Y
A little while ago I mentioned this wonderful designer called James McDonald from Flockey - you can check out his work in my links section. Through James I was exposed to a young man called Alex. He launched his new look website today, you can check it out here Asnio and I'll be putting a link to him in my link section also.
When I was at college doing web design back in the days when flash released version three and Adobe photoshop was version four. We focused mainly on hidden table layouts with some graphics and told never to use red as it was rude an obtrusive. My career in 'web design' lasted about 8 months before the company I worked for filed for bankruptcy and then I went the easy route and got a government job.
I've not really delved into web-design in about 8 years. I was alright at it, good enough to get a job. I had enough skills to keep the clients happy but I'd never have the ability nor the skills to ever pursue a career in it today. Which brings me to people like Alex and James. Their talent is astounding. Was there something filtered into the water for generation Y which James would be classed as and well Alex is quite young at 15 but I think he just scrapes into the Gen Y area.
The youth of today are always been hacked on about their rudeness and lack of respect. Yet within these two young men I've discovered a wealth of talent, they are both polite and not egotistical. These two men will go onto achieve outstanding results in their chosen career of design. If Gen Y need a poster child to enable them to reinvent themselves - James and Alex would be front runners for that position and the bonus is they'd be able to design the layout of the ad campaign!

It's MAY
I'm still in the entry a day mode.
I went to the cinema last night and seen Monsters V's Aliens. I really enjoyed it :) I went to the last session running at night, so it was basically me and about four other people in the cinema.
I've nothing to really write about today - I've calmed down from the asshole tutor from hell - decided they aren't worth my time nor my effort.
Got stuck into my second creative piece for Writing from the edge today. I'm not 100% sure where I'm heading with it just yet, but it's a work in progress so there's time to sort it out.
Sorted out what I'm going to get Lucy for her birthday this week. Just need to order it online and get it sent to her address now and all should be sweet!
I'm off to find something to eat for dinner.
