I've just literally walked in the door after returning home from a holiday out with my brother and my nephews. I had a wonderful time hanging out with the boys, playing soccer, watching movies, running races etc. Kids grow up so fast its a little freaky. I worked out I've not been to my brothers house in two years. So I'll try and make sure that it's a smaller gap between visits next time.
Just a quick update to say it's all about to kick off here with semester two of Uni starting on Wednesday. I've read two of the eight books so far, though haven't had a chance to look at anything else. Need to work on the time management side of things. I have become a quicker reader thought, I'd not have been able to get through 500+ pages per book in a week in the past, but I've managed over 1,000 pages in two weeks. So I'm quite happy with that.
Off to sort out stuff for class on Wednesday and start book number three.
Hope life in generally 'good' to all who are reading this.

Today I...
-Got out of bed about 10:30am
-Went down town and got the Sunday papers, bread, milk and a cake
-Came home and consumed aforementioned cake for breakfast!
-Made a cup of tea and had a leisurely read the Sunday papers
-Put two loads of washing on which I then hung out in the sun
-Did some reading for Uni
-Made lunch which consisted of a ham and cheese croissant
-Did some more written work for Uni and uploaded it onto the group page
-Took my dog for a walk / run
-Contemplated washing my car - but then though meh it will rain tonight anyway
-Pulled in and folded washing :)
-Looked online for new mobile phones @ impoverished student prices
-Found a phone a Nokia 3500 which I'll buy this week sometime
-Spoke to my Brother on the phone for about an hour talked about his camping experience in the back yard with his son (my little nephew, who wants to be a horse!)
-Prepared and cooked dinner - Vegetable and pasta bake with pumpkin soup and garlic bread, which I then ate
-Got online and wrote BEDA entry #19 for this month.
The excitement that is my life....

So today is my birthday. Another year older, another year wiser... etc. etc. etc.
I'm a firm believer that as we get older the actual 'day' dosen't mean the same as it did when younger. I mean when you're a child your birthday is a big event you hold out for it, wait with anticipation and excitement for the day to come around. Your day the one that's special to you and you alone. The gifts, the cake, the focus on you for that one day out of the 365 that make up a year.
Today for me was just another day. Until my three year old nephew called. He melted my heart with his little voice over the phone "Happy birthday Sal. I love you" He then proceeded to ask me about my dog, and if I could put him on the phone :) and to give him a pat from him.
Children are so pure and innocent not tarnished by cynicism or hate at that age. As cliche' as it sounds my little three year old nephew made my day brighter. He made me smile more radiant than before and I can't wait until I get to see him again to hang out and play trucks together :)
